Honda Civic FL2 Test Drive

As promised… Brought my mom along to Tenaga Setia aka Honda Jalan 222 to see, touch, feel, and test drive the new facelifted Honda Civic 2.0 variant.
Along with us is Mr î Khai Phin, purposely tag him up to feel the car performance and handling to get a better and accurate opinion.
The exterior wise, is explained in my previous post. Interior wise, much of the same… Where I expected the interior to be in black while it is bluish black, but still ok. The 1.8 variant that we saw is beige interior.
To skip all those introduction, let’s go to the test drive part, a fully Modulo equipped Crystal Black Pearl Civic FL2 is awaiting, upon starting the engine, immediately I noticed there is only 15 mileage clocked, and SA informed the car only reached and ready by the same day by 11 am, and we tested it by 3pm, about the 2nd tester to be.
Going out from the gate, and accelerate all the way up to the path of Taman Sea and SS2… Out of expectation, the accelerator pedal is very light, just like KP’s car, GTI and all sorts of other… Due to getting used to heavier pedal in city, I push the pedal with the same strength and I got up to 4.5 RPM easily… Where KP surprised and says, wow… Never see you rev so high…
The 5 speed AT gives a nice start-off as well as smooth gear change, compare to City 5 AT, or even 4 AT Corolla Altis…
Power is adequate, powering by a chain driven DOHC i-VTEC 2.0 engine (K20Z2), rated at 155 PS @ 6500 RPM and 188 Nm Torque @ 4500 RPM, you can feel that the Civic although is heavy, but still makes fast move with 4 people on the ride(while testing). Downhill part, there is no unusual gear changes noticeable. Cornering I can’t give much comment, due to small roads and many cars blocking in front, but still at 45km/h at round about, the car still in its track and control, rear passenger (KP and SA) did not feel much sliding out, thanks for the Independent Double Wishbone, along with superior support of Pilot Preceda 215/45 on 17’ rims.
Braking wise, I can say… Very standard by Honda… You can brake without breaking sweat.
The multiplex meter, is very easily readable without needing you to switch your attention away from the road, but due to it is fully with bodykit, I found that the door visor is blocking much of the view on the side window, just in my opinion.
Audio part, similar to the new City with 6 speakers (2 Tweeters), but not sure if it comes with the loudness control, didn’t take note due to talking with passenger.
In KP opinion, the ride is quite comfortable, but due to no jerking feelings, he feels that the car is very normal in terms of power.
Finally… I noticed central lock button which we don’t have one in City… Prior to that, when I push the gear knob back to “P”, the car will automatically unlock… Which have its pro and cons.
